C\u2019est avec une profonde tristesse que je vous annonce le d\u00e9c\u00e8s soudain de Paul-Hubert Poirier.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eminent orientaliste et historien du christianisme antique, membre de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie des Arts, des Lettres et des Sciences humaines de la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 royale du Canada, membre associ\u00e9 \u00e9tranger de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres, Chevalier de l\u2019Ordre national du Qu\u00e9bec, Paul-Hubert \u00e9tait un des \u00ab anciens \u00bb de l\u2019AELAC, qu\u2019il a constamment accompagn\u00e9e de ses remarques et encouragements bienveillants. Engag\u00e9 depuis des d\u00e9cennies dans l\u2019\u00e9dition des Actes de Thomas<\/em> syriaques, il \u00e9tait intervenu encore en 2022 sur le sujet lors de notre rencontre scientifique (voir photo). Il travaillait encore sur ce dossier, qu\u2019il esp\u00e9rait achever, lorsque la mort l\u2019a surpris. Ses int\u00e9r\u00eats d\u00e9passaient toutefois largement ce texte, et nombreux sont ceux qui ont pu b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier de son \u00e9rudition et de ses conseils. Les sp\u00e9cialistes des apocryphes lui doivent encore r\u00e9cemment le volume \u00c9vangiles canoniques et apocryphes<\/em> paru dans la collection La Pl\u00e9\u00efade. Sa pr\u00e9sence discr\u00e8te mais attentive, sa bienveillance, son \u00e9rudition et son acribie nous manqueront.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dear Colleagues,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have very sad news to share with you : Paul-Hubert Poirier passed away suddenly a few days ago.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul-Hubert was an eminent orientalist and historian of ancient Christianity. He was a member of the Royal Society of Canada’s Academy of Arts, Letters and Humanities, a foreign associate member of the Acad\u00e9mie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres, and a Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Qu\u00e9bec. He was one of the \u00ab\u00a0elders\u00a0\u00bb of the AELAC, which he constantly accompanied with his kind comments and encouragement. Involved for decades in the editing of the Acts of Thomas Syriac, he gave a lecture on this text during our 2022 scientific meeting (see picture) and was still working on the project, which he had hoped to complete, when death surprised him. However, his interests extended far beyond this text, and many of us benefited from his erudition and advice. His most recent work on Christian apocrypha is the volume<\/em> \u00c9vangiles canoniques et apocryphes, published in the La Pl\u00e9\u00efade collection. We shall miss his discreet but attentive presence, his benevolence, his erudition and his acribia.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
