AI for Legal and Justice

Description: Legal aid organizations like Caritas face a heavy workload while helping vulnerable people navigate complex legal systems. This project challenges you to design, build, and evaluate a working proof-of-concept tool that solves a real problem for legal professionals. Depending on the problem you choose to tackle, your work could involve technologies such as agentic AI workflows, search and RAG, document analysis and classification, speech-to-text and translation, predictive modeling, and many more. This project is part of a collaboration between the University of Lausanne, the University of St. Gallen, and Caritas Switzerland.

Start: 2026

Contact: Johannes-Rudolf David johannes-rudolf.david@unil.ch

Past Master Thesis Supervision @ UNIL

Year of Graduation

MSc Student

Prof.

Main Tutors

Company

Topic

2024

Ahmad Farhat

Yash

Yuanjun Feng and Gregory Chevalley

Stouff Capital

Adapting to Evolving Data Needs:Integrating No-Code Visualization in a
Private Investment Firm – Stouff Capital Case Study

2024

Mireille Adjaoute

Yash

Yuanjun Feng

ABBL

Data Complexity in Open Finance Integration Challenges and Solution Alternatives

2024

Srivathshan Paramalingam

Yash

Amirsiavosh Bashardoust and Arnaud Rambicur

KPMG

Optimizing Artificial Intelligence Integration in Auditting: Enhancing Quality and Addressing Challenges

2024

Giacomo Rattazzi

Yash

Amirsiavosh Bashardoust and Henri Jamet

Academic

Analyzing the Political Bias of Large Language Models on Climate Change Discourse

2024

Yonah Bole (Eraneos Switzerland award for best thesis in Information Systems and Digital Innovation)

Yash

Amirsiavosh Bashardoust

Ubisoft

Workflow Efficiency in Game Development: Exploring How Integrating Generative Artificial Intelligence, Specifically Stable Diffusion, Into Game Development Pipelines Can Enhance Efficiency, Creativity, and Innovation.

2024

Ismael Tewfik

Yash

Yuanjun Feng

Richemont

Optimizing Onboarding with “Enboarder”:
A Solution to Early Employee Turnover

2024

Krzysztof Szerenos

Yash

Yuanjun Feng

Santander Private Bank

Optimizing Bank Operations: A Case Study on the Appian Case Management Tool Implementation in Santander Private Bank

2024

Christophe Rosset

Yash

Henri Jamet

Vaudoise Assurances

How DevOps Tools Can Enhance Software
Engineering Activities for HR Software
Deliveries ?

2024

Johannes-Rudolf David (Faculty award for best overall average in Information Systems and Digital Innovation)

Yash

Henri Jamet

Visible SA

LIFT: Leveraging LLMs to Assist Meeting Facilitators

2025

Léo Rongier

Yash

Yuanjun Feng and Lucas Rongier

Polyhabitat

AI and SEO: Revolutionizing Search Engine Techniques in Content Marketing

2025

Gaetan Stein (Faculty award for best thesis in Information Systems and Digital Innovation)

Yash

Amirsiavosh Bashardoust

KPMG

Optimising IT audit documentation with generative AI: An action design research study on efficiency, standardisation, and quality at KPMG

2025

Selma Riedo

Yash

Amirsiavosh Bashardoust

Academic

When Your Boss is an AI: Identity Label Bias in LLM Task Allocation Decisions

2026

Arthur Aimé Müller

Yash

Henri Jamet & Tomasz Stempak

Richemont, Group Logistics

Enhancing Business Interpretability of Time Series Forecasting Models through Large Language Models and Prompt Engineering

2026

Pierre-Augustin Grillat

Yash

Henri Jamet & Stéphane Fallet

RapidRise

The evolution of SME executives’ perception of artificial intelligence and its effects on the development of requirements

2026

Guilherme Dinis Caramelo Homem

Yash

Yuanjun Feng

Academic

How people intuitively select and update trust in different information sources when they’re making decisions

Past Master Thesis Supervision @ ETH Zurich

19.
