Energy Homeostasis

  • Whole-body composition (using the EchoMRI for the non-invasive analysis of lean mass, fat mass and body fluids).
  • Body temperature (using the Bioseb rectal thermometer)
  • Food Intake (using the BioDaq online feeding monitor system)
  • Bomb calorimetry (to measure the energy content of feces, food, and other biological samples)
  • Indirect calorimetry (using the Oxymax Comprehensive Lab Animal Monitoring System (CLAMS), 12 cages, to measure energy metabolism (VO2, VCO2, respiratory quotient, heat), feeding, drinking, urine and spontaneous locomotor activity).
  • Body temperature and Spontaneous locomotor activity (Online monitoring by telemetry using indwelling probes).
  • Exercise (treadmill, can be coupled to indirect calorimetry to measure energy expenditure and substrate selection during exercise).
