Travel in Lausanne
The Web site of the Swiss Federal Railways (and their SBB Mobile app, also in English) offers travel information for all public transports in Switzerland, including bus and metro. You can search for connections using street addresses, local transport stops (bus, metro, etc.) and train stations.
You can also visit the Transport Lausanne or download the mobile app (in French only).
GoogleMap has good covering of the Lausanne region and of its public transports.

You will be receiving a Lausanne Transport Card for the duration of your stay, provided to you by your hotel at check-in. Please be sure to keep this with you at all times when using the metro and bus. It is valid for the greater Lausanne region only.

Travel to Lausanne
The nearest airport is Geneva Airport (GVA). The airport has its own train station, Genève Aéroport, from which you can take direct trains to Lausanne (around 50 mins; 26 chf).
Switzerland is part of the Schengen area.
