Research statement

I am interested in understanding processes that occur at the glaciers ice-bedrock interface. My PhD focuses in the study of the subglacial drainage system, where the main objective is to develop a framework to infer the hydraulic properties of the subglacial channels and distributed system by the assimilation of indirect observational data. For this, I rely on geostatistical tools, inverse methods and hydrogeological modelling techniques.

Biography

After completing my bachelor in Geology at the University of Chile, I become interested in hydrogeology. This led me to pursue the Master in Groundwater Studies at The University of New South Wales.  After that, I applied the gained knowledge working in different hydrogeological/environmental consulting companies in Chile, where I realize that little attention was given to the cryosphere. This motivated me to get back into research through a snow hydrology oriented internship at the University of Quebec. Currently, I am PhD student at the University of Lausanne.
