Joint EuHEA and Swiss Health Economics Workshops’ Plenary Speaker

We are very pleased to welcome Prof. Amitabh Chandra to the conference to give the Plenary Talk to participants attending the two overlapping conferences on Friday 8th September (10.45am-12.00pm). The presentation is titled:

“The BioPharma Dilemma: Balancing Innovation and Access in an Age of Personalized Medicines”

Amitabh Chandra is the Malcolm Wiener Professor of Social Policy and Director of Health Policy Research at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

His research into innovation and cost-growth in healthcare, medical malpractice, and racial disparities in healthcare has been published in the leading economic, health economic, medical and health policy journals. As well as receiving the Kenneth Arrow Award for best paper in health economics (Chandra A and Staiger D. (2007). Productivity Spillovers in Health Care: Evidence from the Treatment of Heart Attacks. Journal of Political Economy, 115: 103-140.), and the Eugene Garfield Award for the impact of medical research he was awarded American Society of Health Economists (ASHE) medal and is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine.

Conference programme and discussion papers available

The programme with list of papers, presenting authors and discussants has been posted

Full presentations by students/early career researchers will be 25 minutes. Discussants should respond using up a maximum of 15 minutes leaving a further 15 minutes for general audience participation. The objective of the discussion being to provide constructive feedback to improve the article and identify possible issues to address or future avenues of research.
