June 28-29, 2018
Lausanne, Switzerland

The Accounting, Finance and Economic Research Groups at HEC University of Lausanne and the School of Accountancy at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) are pleased to announce the 3rd China-Europe conference: Information Transparency, Banking, and Economic Institutions.

This biennial conference was jointly started by Erasmus University (lead Professors Abe de Jong and Maarten Pronk), University of Iowa (Prof. Doug DeJong), and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Prof. TJ Wong). The 1st conference was held in Rotterdam at Erasmus University in 2014, and the 2nd conference was held in Hong Kong at CUHK in 2016. In 2018, the event will be held in Lausanne with the torch carried over by HEC Lausanne in partnership with CUHK.

The conference will bring together top scholars from the East and the West to present and discuss high quality research in the fields of accounting, finance, and economics. It is designed to be small-scaled to facilitate interactions among participants. The overall theme is transparency, banking, and economic institutions focusing on China and Europe.

We will invite eight empirical studies employing novel data and approaches both in terms of data gathering (e.g. field studies, experiments, and hand-collected) or settings (e.g. private firms, Chinese & European data, banks, and economic intuitions) to answer questions of potential interests to regulators and practice. Each paper will be allocated 60 minutes for presentation, discussion and Q&A from the audience.

We will also organize a round-table chaired by the panelists from bank regulator, financial industry and academic researchers focusing on banking, finance and accounting.

Attendance is open to all, but there is limited space for other participants who would like to attend.

Registration fee for participants is 250 CHF per person , which covers conference access, paper downloads, coffee breaks, lunch, and a Gala dinner. Presenters will have their registration fee waived and travel and accommodation costs reimbursed (up to CHF 800 and CHF 1’500 in total for Inter-Europe and Cross-continent travelers, respectively ) based on receipts for one author for each paper.
